Frequently asked questions

Which sites does Skipper support?
Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video (including regional Amazon domains), and YouTube watch pages.
How do I turn features on or off?
Click the Skipper icon in your Chrome toolbar. Use the toggles in the popup for Prime Video and YouTube. Hotstar skipping is always enabled on supported pages.
The popup shows the wrong site or “Not on this site”
Make sure the streaming tab is the one you were viewing when you opened the popup. Reload the extension at chrome://extensions and try again.
YouTube promos are not detected
Open a YouTube watch page (youtube.com/watch?v=...), enable creator promos in the popup, and wait a few seconds. Some videos have no captions or no detectable promos.
Prime Video ads are not skipping
Confirm “Skip Prime Video ads” is enabled in the popup. Amazon sometimes changes its player UI; if skipping stops working after an Amazon update, report it on GitHub.
Does Skipper work in Incognito?
Only if you enable Skipper for Incognito in chrome://extensions → Skipper → Details.
Is my data collected?
Skipper stores your settings in Chrome. YouTube promo detection may send caption text and video metadata to our backend only for that feature. See the privacy policy for details.

Troubleshooting checklist

  1. Reload Skipper on chrome://extensions.
  2. Refresh the streaming tab after installing or updating Skipper.
  3. Check that the site is one of the supported platforms.
  4. Open the Skipper popup and verify the correct platform card is highlighted.
  5. Disable other ad-blocking extensions temporarily to rule out conflicts.
